Abstract

The application of integrated naqli and aqli (INAQ) knowledge in each subject offered at Kolej PERMATA Insan (KPI) is a requirement, and this includes the mandatory subject, i.e. Hifz Al-Quran (memorizing the Quran). However, the Al-Quran education module used in KPI does not outline specific guidelines for integrating memorised Quranic verses with aqli knowledge. This study aims to design a model of integrating memorised Quranic verses with aqli knowledge for the use of Quranic teachers and students of Kolej PERMATA Insan. This study used the approach of library studies and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving a team of experts. The result of this study is a designed Model of Integrating Memorised Quranic Verses with Aqli Knowledge which comprises five components, five phases, and eight sub-phases containing activities and elements. This model can provide guidelines to the Quranic teachers and students of Kolej PERMATA Insan in integrating the memorised verses with the aqli knowledge.
Ahmad Bazli Ahmad Hilmi, Muhammad Hafiz Saleh, Adibah Sulaiman @ Mohamad Copyright (c) 2023 Ahmad Bazli Ahmad Hilmi, Muhammad Hafiz Saleh, Adibah Sulaiman @ Mohamad http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/496 Sat, 29 Jul 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Comparison of Efficiency of Islamic Commercial Banks Using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) Method: Studies On Pt. Bank Mega Syariah Indonesia, Pt. Bank Central Asia Syariah And Pt. Bank Muamalat Indonesia https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/497
This article discusses the comparison of the efficiency of PT. Bank Mega Syariah Indonesia, PT. Bank Central Asia Syariah and PT. Bank Muamalat Indonesia in 2014-2021 using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) method. The efficiency will be tested using quantitative research using the DEA method which is interpreted as a non-parametric method based on a linear program used to compare efficiency. The DEA model used in this study is the Variable Return to Scale (VRS) model and is assisted by technical software with DEAP Version 2.1 software with Windows OS. The results of the test are (1) Bank Mega Syariah, BCA Syariah and BANK Muamalat are always in an efficient condition from 2014-2021. Overall, the efficiency performance achieved by the three banks above has included a projection summary of each input and output which consists of original input and output values, radial movement, slack movement, and projected value. If the value of the radial movement and slack movement is 0, 000, it means that each input or output variable is in an optimal and efficient state
Moh Farih Fahmi, Binti Mutafarida, Farid Fathur Rohman Copyright (c) 2023 Moh Farih Fahmi, Binti Mutafarida, Farid Fathur Rohman http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/497 Sat, 29 Jul 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Bangladeshi Women's Rights to Work and Safety from the Islamic Perspective https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/534
Having an occupation is a fundamental right for women; hence, they cannot be denied this privilege by their families, societies, governments, or religions. There is no discrimination based on gender in Islam, and it has granted dignity to women who faced oppression during pre-Islamic times by providing gender equality and protecting women’s rights in all aspects of their lives. In Islam, there are two conditions for granting women a right to work, based on their natural characteristics; first, a woman’s primary scope of work is her family (house), and women have the same opportunities for work as men for any need. There is a common belief in Bangladesh that Islam does not permit women to work, and some Islamic scholars think women without a household have no place in the workplace. In some parts of Bangladesh, women are vulnerable at work; they often work in a hazardous working environment and are denied equal pay. In this light, Islam has provided specific guidelines for the welfare of women in the workplace to ensure a safe working environment. The primary objective of this research is to determine how women’s rights are protected in the garment sector. This study discussed women’s right to work in Islam, specifically regarding preserving their dignity at work, eliminating pay inequality, preventing physical abuse, providing a safe journey to work, strengthening family ties and improving maternal rights for working women. This study also examined possible benefits for women through implementing Islam, particularly regarding social respect and security and highlights the potential benefits of adopting Islamic principles in the garment sector to improve women’s lives in Bangladesh. This study follows the qualitative research paradigm and adopts the qualitative content analysis research method. The Bangladesh government’s laws regarding women’s right to work have been adopted as the primary data source. It is hoped that this study’s output can guide. The analysis outcome will be refined to present recommendations for reviewing the existing civil and Islamic laws, proper planning, legal reform, and implementation of changes at the end of this article. Hopefully, these findings will further empower women’s right to work, especially in Bangladesh. This highlights the need to empower women to achieve the desired development outcomes.
Muhiuddin Khandokar Arif Nuhiuddin Copyright (c) 2023 Muhiuddin Khandokar Arif Nuhiuddin http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/534 Sat, 29 Jul 2023 00:00:00 +0800 We Find Strength in Each Other: The Psychosocial Effect of COVID-19 Pandemic on Malay Trans Women in Malaysia https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/541
The lockdowns or ‘movement control order’ especially during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted all walks of life in Malaysia, including the transgender community. This study aimed to explore the psychosocial impact of lockdown regulation during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic on Malay trans women or Mak Nyah in a southern state in Malaysia. This is a qualitative study with semi-structured, in-depth interviews and thematic analysis. 11 local Malay trans women aged 33 to 50, participated using purposive snowball sampling, starting with a local outreach worker. Six salient, interrelated themes were identified, namely: (1) Fear of the pandemic; (2) The psychological impact of lockdown; (3) The social impact of lockdown; (4) Family as a main concern during lockdown; (5) Transgender community as a source of support; and (6) Concerns about own health. Although the lockdown had considerable psychosocial impact, the close relationship among the local trans women community has alleviated some of the hardship. The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown imposed psychosocial challenges impacting Malay trans women in a southern state in Malaysia. Being in a local transgender network provided invaluable moral support, relieved loneliness and offered some solutions for financial burden during the lockdown.
Fathima Begum Syed Mohideen, Rafidah Hanim Mokhtar, Nizam Baharom, Mohamed Fakhri Abu Baharin, Khadijah Hasanah Abang Abdullah, Zainora Daud Copyright (c) 2023 Fathima Begum Syed Mohideen, Rafidah Hanim Mokhtar, Nizam Baharom, Mohamed Fakhri Abu Baharin, Khadijah Hasanah Abang Abdullah, Zainora Daud http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/541 Thu, 05 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Addressing Challenges, Unleashing Potentials: Towards Achieving Impactful Islamic Social Finance https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/554
This study examines the domain of Islamic social finance within the framework of addressing prevalent challenges and harnessing potential for significant socio-economic impact. It lies in the acknowledged ability of Islamic social finance mechanisms - zakat, Islamic crowdfunding, Islamic microfinance and waqf - to address poverty and promote economic equality, yet the full realization of these benefits is impeded by numerous challenges. This study therefore identifies the primary issue as understanding these impediments and determining how to effectively navigate them for enhanced Islamic social finance impact. Its aim is to comprehensively analyze the issues, identify unexploited opportunities, and formulate recommendations for a robust and impactful Islamic social finance system. To this end, the study utilizes a library-based approach, conducting an extensive review of relevant literature, including academic articles, books, policy reports, and case studies. It is revealed that governance and regulatory challenges, socio-economic obstacles, and discrepancies in the application and understanding of Islamic social finance mechanisms are the primary hurdles. Potential solutions range from harmonizing regulatory standards, promoting transparency and accountability, to fostering economic empowerment and cross-border collaboration in the Muslim world. This study implies that addressing these challenges and harnessing Islamic social finance's potential can lead to a more effective poverty alleviation strategy, contributing to wealth redistribution, social justice, and sustainable development in line with Islamic principles. This research, therefore, holds substantial implications for policymakers, regulators, and practitioners within the Islamic social finance ecosystem, and suggests the necessity of collaborative, informed efforts to unlock the transformative power of Islamic social finance.
Hussein Azeemi Abdullah Thaidi, Muhamad Firdaus Ab Rahman, Ahmad Zaki Salleh Copyright (c) 2023 Hussein Azeemi Abdullah Thaidi, Muhamad Firdaus Ab Rahman, Ahmad Zaki Salleh http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/554 Sat, 29 Jul 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Isu Rasuah: Kajian Terhadap Elemen Integriti Menurut Perspektif Al-Quran dan Hadith https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/555

Abstract

Corruption is currently one of the most frequently discussed topics in the news media. This is due to the fact that the number of Malaysians receiving bribes has increased over the past few years. Integrity is viewed as an essential aspect to emphasize in light of the escalating problem of corruption in modern society. However, the application of this integrity is viewed as having a very low value, and there is a lack of community awareness, despite the fact that integrity is one of the aspects mentioned in the Al-Quran and Sunnah. This qualitative study examines corruption issues and aspects of integrity based on the Quran and Sunnah through the lens of previous research and literature reviews. According to the study's findings, there is a direct correlation between the importance of integrity and the growing problem of corruption. Integrity is also emphasized in the Al-Quran and Sunnah with regard to performing a job
involving both the public and private sectors. Integrity is crucial for combating the issue of corruption that exists today, and the Islamic religion places a strong emphasis on it. In order to prevent pervasive corruption, it is crucial that today's society be aware of the significance of integrity in everyday life.
Azman Ab Rahman, Md Yunus Ab Aziz, Anis Nabilah Copyright (c) 2023 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://uijournal.usim.edu.my/index.php/uij/article/view/555 Thu, 05 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0800
